1. Use bicimad across Madrid — and now in Pozuelo too
There are 8.385 bikes and 683 stations spread across Madrid’s 21 districts and the municipality of Pozuelo de Alarcón.
2. Plan your trip on the app
Download the bicimad app to use the bikes and consult the map showing available stations and bikes.
3. What does the map tell you?
On it, the stations are colour-coded to inform of their status.
Green station: low occupancy.
Blue station: medium occupancy.
Red station: high occupancy.
Grey station: not operational.
4. Bike availability
You can use both the bikes docked at the station and those parked nearby.
5. Colour indicators to start or end a ride
The coloured lights show the bike's status. Check the lights on the dock if the bike is docked or you're docking it. If the bike is unlocked or you're leaving it outside the dock because the station is full, check the lights on the lock.
Red: bike unavailable or ride could not be ended.
Yellow: wait for the green light to unlock the bike or until your ride has been successfully ended.
Green: You're ready to start your ride, or your ride has ended successfully.
6. Leaving the bike at a station dock?
Remember that if the station isn't full, you must dock the bike.
Light: when you anchor the bike, wait for the green light to come on. If it turns red, the bike hasn't been docked correctly. If it's yellow, wait a few seconds.
Screen: confirm that the bike is docked by checking the screen. The speed and distance display will disappear and a charging battery icon will appear.
Handlebars: you can also pull the handlebars towards you to confirm that the bike is securely docked.
7. Or leaving it undocked?
If the station is full, you can leave the bike in overflow mode, meaning you can park it near the station, provided it remains within the GPS-defined station perimeter.
Lock: Close the lock to end your ride.
Screen: Confirm that you have successfully completed the journey based on the image displayed on the screen: if a green tick appears, you have successfully completed the journey; if a crossed-out ‘P’ appears, you have left the bike outside the designated area and must move it back inside; and if a bicycle and a docking station appear, you must dock it because the station is not full.
Light: If the bike is within the station perimeter, the lock will show a green light. If it turns red, the process wasn't completed correctly; if it's yellow, wait a few seconds.

What is the minimum age to use the service?
You can use the service from the age of 14. Under 18-year-olds must be registered by their parent/guardian or legal representative, who will assume responsibility for their physical suitability, as well as for any damages that may be caused intentionally.
What should the user do in the event of a breakdown or other incident?
